Center for Immune Imaging

The HMS Center for Immune Imaging provides the infrastructure and expertise for intravital imaging of cells and microbes in diverse tissues in living mice at single cell resolution. The center is divided into two main facilities: the main Intravital Imaging Facility located in the New Research Building, and the BL2+ Intravital Imaging Facility housed in the Seeley G. Mudd Building for imaging of infected mice. Each facility has a microsurgical suite equipped with Zeiss dissecting stereomicroscopes for sample preparation, and a multiphoton microscopy room housing a two-photon microscope (Prairie Technologies/Bruker) equipped with a tunable Tsunami Ti:sapphire laser (Spectra-Physics). In addition, the SGMB BL2+ Intravital Imaging Facility has a digital card reader-protected gowning room; a procedure room divided into space to accommodate tissue culture, microbiology and small animal surgeries; a room for housing and handling of pathogen-infected mice; common support space for equipment, and autoclave to sterilize microbial contaminated animal cages and other materials. Image analysis workstations for offline processing of image acquisition data are also available.
